Scott Sovereen is a 30 year photography veteran. Scott originally specialized in outdoor scenic photography and recognized nationally for his work in the Chicago area. He subsequently expanded his business model to include a portrait studio with specialties of family portraits, high school seniors and weddings. Sovereen also does extensive work on location. Two daughters who are both athletes and specialized equipment already in the business led Sovereen to continue his work capturing sporting events. Sovereen has been the driving force behind the Georgetown Lady Eagle basketball program for the last several years, providing the creative input for the cover and back cover portraits in addition to the game action and headshots inside the program.
Sovereen was an accomplished high school athlete, having won 9 letters participating in football, basketball and baseball. With multiple D1 offers in multiple sports, Sovereen accepted a full ride football scholarship to Purdue, where he went on to be All Big Ten 1st Team and later named to Purdue's All Time football team. Scott's background means he understands the sport he is working and knows how to capture it for you.
CASE STUDY:Georgetown Lady Eagle Basketball
For most people in central Texas, the Georgetown Lady Eagle basketball program is considered one of the most respected and envied programs in the state. Led by future Hall of Fame Coach Rhonda Farney (900+ wins), everything about the program is first rate. Rhonda and the Booster Club have the same issues that face all programs. How do we get the most from our financial and time investment for the program? How do we make the parents feel good about all the volunteer time and effort it takes to make for a successful program. How do we give them something they can take with them that will live on forever? Clearly the answer was providing EVERYONE with an everlasting momento of the the hard work and road that has been traveled.
In 2001, Rhonda turned to Scott & Prince Photography to handle photography for the program. They no longer wanted to 'hope' someone took a nice picture of everyone on the team. Literally, there were individual players who only were able to have a picture of themselves in warm-ups prior to the game in the previous year end program. Sub-varsity was relegated to non-existent status, with just a team picture. Nearly 3/4 of the parents and athletes involved with the program, working concessions, donating time and money were not on any radar screen at the end of the year. As we know, only 50% of the freshman playing sports will ever play a school sport again. This is their moment. This is their last school shot. How will they remember their involvement in the program? I calculated my hourly rate one year and it comes to less than $3 hour, so clearly its something I love to do for the girls and the program.
I
What Prince Photography did in 2011-2012 was to take action/game shots of every team, every player at every level. Not just one, but in most cases, a minimum of 20 of every player. These are pictures the parents and players receive royalty free so they can make as many prints as they want. We took all the team pictures. We did the headshots of everyone involved in the program, including the principal, trainers, school Board Director etc, etc. We did a Studio day at the gym, where we brought our studio lighting, took high resolution posed shots, publicity shots, vanity shots and team photos in formal dresses that we later superimpose on a high resolution background for the year end program. We also do a location team shot with this years theme that will appear on the back page of the program. The parents own the rights to print anything and everything we do. You can print up as much or as little as you want. We also produced year end videos for all players on all teams set to music they wanted and will have that DVD to show their children some day.
For a investment amount that is usually less than what a parent will spend with Lifetouch or Prestige for the team picture & and a couple of 5x7's of the athlete holding the ball, you can have so much more. Actually, you can have it all. For your organization or booster club, request a cost free proposal of what we can do for you. Prince does not sub-contract any portion of their program. This clearly means we are very limited in the amount of programs we are able to work with in the year. If you have any interest, please don't hesitate to move forward for a proposal. Before its too late.
